Romans Lettering Project Update and Some Big News!

I am so happy to announce I have officially finished lettering my way through the book of Romans!

If you are just joining me, I’ll give you a little background:

For a few months, I had been reading through a year-long Bible reading plan and it just IMG_5285wasn’t working for me. I didn’t feel like I was connecting with what I was reading and listening to (gotta love that Bible app though!), so I decided to do something totally not me and quit the plan I had already made significant progress on and start something brand new.

Back when I first started journalling five years ago, I would letter Bible verses, but as I began lettering with brush pens, and colors, and fancy blending papers, and later on my iPad, my journal art became practically non-existent. I missed those days, so I thought that would be a good place to start in finding a new way to study the Bible, in a way where I would actually remember the details of what I was reading.

I opened up my Bible to Romans. Why Romans? Well, I’ve been a part of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for the past few years and wasn’t sure if I’d be able to commit to it this year, so Romans felt like a good place to start since they will begin their study of the Apostle Paul’s famous letter in the fall. (And if I do end up deciding to sign up, I’ll have a head start!)

So, I got to work.

I really loved how my hand lettered notes of Romans 1 turned out, so I posted a picture of them on social media – and I was overwhelmed by the positive response! That was a big motivator to stay consistent in my study and start working away at the next chapters. Not only was my study inspiring me and revealing truth that I hadn’t yet taken the time to really meditate on, but others began sharing that they were inspired and that they would love copies of my journal pages to help them along in their studies (apparently, there are a lot of people studying Romans right now)!

Not only did I letter each chapter, but I was inspired to find a word to sum up the main ideas. Some chapters were pretty obvious, others weren’t so much, but I was determined to do this as a way of helping me remember what I read in each chapter and to share the gospel with my social media followers.

I made it all the way through Romans in one month and here was the result:

Now, for my big news:

I mentioned in my last blog post that I was considering making this project into a book, but nothing was official. Today I am happy to announce that I will be making this project into a book that you all will be able to purchase this coming fall!

After doing quite a bit of research, I decided self publishing was the best route for this project, which includes it’s challenges, but also allows me to have the flexibility and freedom I need to get the project done on my timeline and with my ever-changing schedule.

I have already begun to digitize my designs, transferring them from the pages of my journals to my iPad. Since this project began as something I was just doing for myself, I wasn’t worried about spacing and spelling and such and I want to fix some of those things for the final product.

It will be a lot of work, but it’s gonna be so worth it!

Writing a book has been on my bucket list since high school and now my dream is becoming a reality. I’m looking forward to continuing the process and sharing updates with you as I make more progress!

Thank you so much for encouraging me along and motivating me to spend time with the Lord and share the good news of Jesus Christ daily! I have some of the best friends and followers a girl could ask for and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being so supportive and inspiring.

❤ Lauren
