In Genesis 16, we read the story of Hagar’s encounter with God. She was a servant of Abraham’s wife, Sarah, was pregnant with his child and running away for fear of her life and well-being. It was a messy situation and a very low point in her life, as well as Abraham and Sarah’s.
While we could easily focus on the sin which caused this, as I studied this more in-depth for the first time with my Bible study, my eyes were focused on God’s compassion towards Hagar and her response.
He met her out in the wilderness and cared for her in her time of great need. He spoke to her personally and her response was beautiful. She responded, “You are the God who sees me.”
As I reflected on this, I was filled with gratitude and love for my Father in Heaven once again. He sees me. He sees you. He does not forsake His children – the one’s who have true faith in Him. He knows our hearts – our strengths, our weaknesses, our fears – and He knows us intimately. He is a good, perfect, loving Abba Father.
You can trust Him. 🖤
