Psalm 9:7

This summer I did an in-depth biblical word study on the word “justice.” You can check out the full study by downloading the free ebooklet “What Does the Bible Say About Justice?” when you sign up for my mailing list. But today, I wanted to focus on the verses that highlight God’s character of justice and a handful of the verses that have encouraged me continually since first doing this study. I hope these verses will encourage you and ground you more deeply in the truth of who God is:

“But the Lord sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice.” -Psalm 9:7 ESV

“For the Lord loves justice; he will not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.” -Psalm 37:28 ESV

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.” -Psalm 89:14 ESV

“But the Lord of hosts is exalted in justice, and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness.” -Isaiah 5:16 ESV

These words have and always will remain true. Our day-to-day circumstances do not change who God is. He is unchanging and completely dependable. We know this is true, because He tells us clearly in His Word.

The perfectly just God of the universe who sent His Son to save sinners can be trusted.
